Little Yellow Canary

How to wear a canary yellow frock in winter AND spring....

Hello hello! Long time no see! Sorry for the hiatus but I'm back at blogging again! I thought I'd try something new around here...if you know me than you know I love fashion. Fashion blogs are what got me into blogging in the first place! So I thought I'd play around with it a bit more on Space Diaries.

Today I'm sharing my new favourite dress with y'all. It's the first addition to my spring 2017 wardrobe. But since Vancouver hasn't fully warmed up all the way, I wanted to show you two ways to wear it during transition from  winter to spring.

If you can recall my first ever style post, then you've seen my first trick before. I love layering long-sleeved turtlenecks underneath sleeveless dresses in the winter time. And if it's warm enough you can drop the tights to give your outfit a little more balance.

Denim jackets are my go-to for spring and fall. They provide enough warmth without heating things up. The jacket paired with this dress also makes me feel like I'm going to a picnic! I bought this jacket from American Eagle Outfitters a looong time ago but you could still pick up a similar one from there! (Or this one from Urban Outfitters that I'm currently crushing on!)

Space Style: Hide & Seek

If you didn't already know that I live in the Vancouver area, then by the end of this post you will because I'm about to talk about the weather....

Winter has been acting so strange this year. When I thought it was finally about to be spring, we had a huge snowfall. Then came the pouring rain then the sunshine. In fact early today it was quite overcast so I thought it would be the perfect time to take some photos...until Mr. Sun came out. So I waited it out until he finally disappeared behind some clouds. But by the time I popped outside, he was out to play again which in the end turned out for the better since I love the way he casted a golden highlight on these photos. Really it was a game of hide and seek.

Up your beauty regime with rosewater

Put your Valentine's roses to good use! Not only does rosewater smell lovely but it's packed full of great benefits for your body and mind. Here are the pros of rosewater as well as some tips on how you can incorporate it into your beauty routine....

Benefits of rosewater + a recipe -- Space Diaries

I first discovered rosewater after I came across Turkish Delight. (Thanks Narnia!) When my mom, sister, and I decided to try making some for ourselves, we set off to the grocery store to purchase the ingredients and one of those ingredients was rosewater.

I remember thinking to myself that rosewater was the nicest thing I had ever smelled in my life. It had such a soft, feminine aroma to it. So I didn't stop at baking. I captured that rosewater in a bottle and sprayed it everywhere -- in my room, on myself. Looking back I was doing my body a huge favour.

(Btw our rosewater Turkish Delights tasted damn good. If you want a recipe, let me know and I'd be delighted to do a post on it... 😉)

Now for those great benefits of rosewater...

  • It maintains your skin's pH balance, controls excess oil, calms irritated skin, removes dirt and clears clogged pores so it's the best natural cleanser and toner out there
  • It hydrates and revitalizes your skin, giving it that extra lift
  • Rosewater's antibacterial properties aids in healing scars, cuts and wounds
  • It contains antioxidants that help strengthen skin cells and regenerate skin tissue
  • Rosewater's antiflammatory properties reduces dandruff and also moisturizes and promotes hair growth
  • It boosts your mood (like chocolate!) and eases stress and anxiety, making you feel relaxed which helps for a better good night's sleep

Now that you're aware of rosewater's many benefits, make yourself a bottle of it to spray onto your skin, hair, and pillow. All you need to do is simmer some fragrant rose petals in water, strain it, fill up a bottle, and spray away!

Loving Victoria #UOLoveStories

Roses are red, violets are blue, I love me, do you love you?....

I've learned a lot about Victoria. Her quirks, her likes, and what makes her tick. I've been pretty proud of her at times too. I've congratulated her and have given her some pats on the back. But I've also picked out her faults...many faults...and shook my head at her shortcomings. I've sometimes wondered why she thinks that ways, speaks that way, acts that way, looks that way. Why was she made that way? But whenever I look into her eyes through the mirror, I see her Creator. He made her that way because He wants her that way. He wants her. He loves her. And that makes me love her.

Le Faux Plante

(Pardon my intentional horribly incorrect French in the title) If you love plants but are missing the green thumb, then I have a perfect solution for you....

I've finally given up on plants. Or maybe my plants have finally given up on me. Flowers, succulents, cacti -- you name it! I've killed em all. So I've finally reverted to the only solution left: artificial plants. I never liked fake plants because they look, well, fake. But after I stumbled upon these at Michael's, I'm sold.

I made a little haul video that I hope you'll enjoy!

+Have you ever given artificial plants a try?
